In the manure treatment process of Ivaco, the biological treatment is followed by constructed wetlands as a polishing step after which the effluent is discharged into surface water. In the current project the effluent will be further purified into water with a high quality (e.g. to use it as drinking water for pigs). This will be achieved by membrane filtration techniques. Additionally, the drinking water company ‘De Watergroep’ will perform a water audit to assess whether quality assurance can be guaranteed in a decentralized drinking water production plant starting from agricultural wastewater.
