In Qatar, treated effluent is discharged into artificial lakes since the 70s. However, there is doubt on the quality of the treated water then. Moreover, there are, even today, accidental and illegal discharges. With this project, the ecological state of the Abu Nakhla lagoon will be mapped. The study includes a characterization of the soil, groundwater, surface water, fauna and flora. Following different user options will be formulated and the impact of different choices will be modeled.
